Lighted by the Blinds

by Karen Bolan

Lighted by the Blinds was inspired by shapes and shadows formed when sunlight emerged between the window blinds in Karen’s house. The design plays with color, scale, and shape while teaching piecing skills important in modern quilting, including working with large pieces, strip piecing, and using templates.

I enjoy looking at the shadows created when sunlight filters through the window blinds in my house, and how the light and shadow shapes change as light reaches the various levels of window trim.
